Beach

 

In Toroa for Maori, we had to make an animation on Maori items. I did this with Ella. We chose to do a beach setting with beach animals and items. Did you know some of these items in Maori?

Pick a Path

 

In the Toroa hub for literacy, we had to make a pick a path. A pick a path is a story where you get to make decisions for the character. If you would like you could play my pick a path and comment which path you chose.

Journey to the center of the earth

 

In Toroa for literacy, we have been looking at the movie genre sci-fi. We had to choose a 1950's sci-fi movie and compare it to the 2000's remake or a different 2000's movie that had the same storyline. I chose to do the movie Journey to the center of the earth

Water

 

In the Toroa hub, we have been learning about water and its importance. We had to choose three types of water or things that were harming our water and write what they are, I chose to do pollution, water bodies, and microplastics.

Microplastics

In Toroa we have been learning about pollution and climate change. For this task we had to write about microplastics. The poster had to include the definition, a fact, and a solution to microplastics. This is the poster on microplastics that I made.

 

Beats

 

In Toroa we have been learning about music. We first started of by learning about how music has changed throughout the years, and now we are learning about beats and how to write music. This is my slide on the beat I made up and played, my beat consists of half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes, and hald rest notes. If you could make a beat what notes would you use?

 

In Toroa we have been learning about Matariki. One of the tasks we could do was naming all the Matariki stars, which I have done on this slide. The other tasks were to complete a scavenger hunt, or to take a Matariki quiz. Do you know all of the Matariki stars?

Fibonacci Art

 

In Toroa for maths, we have been learning about the Fibonacci sequence. We used the numbers in this sequence to make different sized shapes then put the shapes together into an art piece, I choose to do a triangle.

In Toroa we have been learning about the weather in Maori, then we had to make a presentation using scratch about the weather. Below is my weather presentation. Do you know how to say the weather in Maori? 

The treaty of waitangi

 

In Toroa we have been learning about the treaty of Waitangi, for this task we had to be either an English settler or a Maori and we had to describe the signing of the treaty of Waitangi from their point of view. I did a Maori man, I found that finding a Maori accent was the hardest thing to do. We used Voki to make this video. Click on this link to see my video

Te Tiriti O Waitangi

 

In Toroa we have been learning about the treaty of Waitangi. We had to answer questions about the english settlers that came to NZ in 8040. I learn't alot about the settlers as I was doing this task, like how they spent 6 months on a boat. If you had to spend 6 months on a boat what would you bring with you?

All About Me

 

In Toroa we had to make an all about me presentation about some stuff about us, I did mine on some of my favorite things. I used canva to make this, then put it onto slides so it is easier to post and view. What are some of your favorite things?

Lego Drawings

 

In Toroa we have been making self portraits of us using out of a lego person outline. We had to recreate ourselves as best as we could and we could make a background if we wanted to. This was a really fun activity to do. Have you tried drawing yourself as a lego person before?

My Pepeha

 

In the Toroa hub we have been working on our pepeha. A pepeha is how you introduce yourself to people in Maori. We had to learn our pepeha and then make a presentation and record ourselves saying it. Do you know your pepeha?

My Camp Reflection

 

On the 9th of February 2021, the Toroa class went on school camp to Wainui, and this is my Reflection on my favorite activity called code breaker. What code breaker basically is, is answer riddles to complete challenges. What is your favorite activity at Wainui Camp?
